2021-22 School Year: What were the backgrounds of Natchez-Adams School District students?

Black students made up 90.3% of the 2,829 students enrolled in Natchez-Adams School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 1.4% decrease from the previous school year.

McLaurin Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 577 students.

A snapshot of Natchez-Adams School District schools showed 90.3% of students were Black, 6.7% were white, 0.4% were Hispanic, and 0.4% multiracial.

Natchez-Adams School District roughly covers eight schools within Adams County and has a main office in Natchez.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
