What background was most represented in Franklin County School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

White students made up 53.7% of the 1,193 students enrolled in Franklin County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 6.8% increase over the previous school year.

Franklin Lower Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 376 students.

A snapshot of Franklin County School District schools showed 53.7% of students were white and 43.8% Black.

Franklin County School District roughly covers four schools within Franklin County and has a main office in Meadville.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
