Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Claiborne County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 23.6% of the 1,233 students enrolled in Claiborne County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

Port Gibson High School had the highest enrollment in the district with 382 students.

A snapshot of Claiborne County School District schools showed 23.6% of students were Black and 76.4% were multiracial.

Claiborne County School District roughly covers two schools within Claiborne County and has a main office in Port Gibson.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
