What background was most represented in Lawrence County schools in 2021-2022 school year?

Of the 1,770 students enrolled in Lawrence County schools in 2021-2022, 66.1% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Lawrence County students.

This is an 11.8% increase over the previous school year.

Lawrence County High School had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2021-2022 school year.

A snapshot of Lawrence County schools showed 66.1% students were White.

There are five schools in Lawrence County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
