Enrollment by Ethnicity: White highest represented background in Lawrence County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 2,027 students enrolled in Lawrence County schools in 2019-2020, 56% were White, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Lawrence County students.

This is a 0.8% decrease from the previous school year.

Topeka Tilton Attendance Center had the highest enrollment of White students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Lawrence County schools showed 56% students were White, 39.9% were Black or African American and 0.6% were Hispanic or Latino.

There are five schools in Lawrence County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
