Lady Wolves Falter Against Lady Trojans
The Co-Lin Women's Basketball team returned to action with a conference matchup against Mississippi Delta on Monday, January 23. The Lady Trojans beat the Lady Wolves by a final of 55-38.
The Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Wolves, 11-6, to hold an advantage by that margin at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Wolves fought back in the second quarter and outscored the Lady Trojans, 11-9, but the Lady Trojans held a 20-17 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.
The Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Wolves, 12-9, in the third quarter to grow their lead to 32-26. The final quarter saw the Lady Trojans nearly double the Lady Wolves scoring output, 23-12, to secure the 55-38 win.
Freshman forward Ceara Myers (Baton Rouge, La.) led the Lady Wolves as she posted a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore guard Zykeria Anderson (Edwards) tied for the team lead in points with 11 paired with three rebounds and one assist.
Sophomore guard Ayanna McNairy (Brookhaven), sophomore forward Jamey McDaniel (Summit), and freshman guard Kayla Howard (Shaw) had four points each. Freshman guard/forward Lashaunte Payne (Magee) and freshman guard A'Shante Fleming (Canton) scored two points each to round out the scoring for the Lady Wolves.
