Congressman Michael Guest thanks workers and discusses tornado recovery efforts

Congressman Michael Guest, representing Mississippi's 3rd district since 2019, recently shared updates on his social media regarding the aftermath of tornadoes that struck communities in Mississippi. The congressman expressed gratitude towards utility workers and discussed federal assistance and local recovery efforts.

On March 17, 2025, Congressman Guest posted a message thanking utility workers for their efforts to restore power after the tornadoes. He stated, "I want to thank all of our utilities workers for their efforts to restore power to those impacted by the tornados that struck our communities this weekend. Thank you for your tireless, hard work to help so many Mississippians impacted by the storms."

Later that day, he spoke with WJTV about the damage in Smith County and highlighted the importance of federal assistance in recovery efforts. In his tweet, he mentioned, "Today, in Smith County, I spoke with WJTV about the tornado damage and about the role that federal assistance will play in the cleanup and recovery process. I want to thank our local media for their continued coverage of the aftermath of these powerful storms."

Additionally, Congressman Guest met with Mayor Kellie Phipps of Taylorsville to discuss the impact on one of the hardest-hit areas. He noted in his post: "Today, I met with Mayor Kellie Phipps of Taylorsville to discuss the damage caused by the tornados that struck our state on Saturday. Taylorsville, located in Smith County, was one of the areas hardest hit by the storms this weekend."
