Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Wilkinson County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 1,991 students enrolled in Wilkinson County schools in 2020-2021, 98.4% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Wilkinson County students.

This is a 0.6% increase over the previous school year.

Jefferson County Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Wilkinson County schools showed 98.4% students were Black or African American.

There are six schools in Wilkinson County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
