Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Amite County schools in 2020-2021 school year

Of the 833 students enrolled in Amite County schools in 2020-2021, 84.2% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Amite County students.

This is a 1.6% increase over the previous school year.

Amite County High School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2020-2021 school year.

A snapshot of Amite County schools showed 84.2% students were Black or African American and 13.3% were White.

There are two schools in Amite County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
