Black or African American had the largest percent of student body in Adams County schools in 2019-2020 school year

Of the 3,104 students enrolled in Adams County schools in 2019-2020, 89.6% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Adams County students.

This is a 0.3% decrease from the previous school year.

McLaurin Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Adams County schools showed 89.6% students were Black or African American and 5.1% were White.

There are eight schools in Adams County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
