Of the 1,374 students enrolled in Claiborne County schools in 2019-2020, 98.8% were Black or African American, according to the Mississippi Department of Education. This was the most represented ethnicity among Claiborne County students.

This is a 0.2% decrease from the previous school year.

A. W. Watson Upper Elementary School had the highest enrollment of Black or African American students in the 2019-2020 school year.

A snapshot of Claiborne County schools showed 98.8% students were Black or African American.

There are three schools in Claiborne County.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly one decade.
