Wolves Secure Conference Championship With Eleventh Straight Win

The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team wrapped up the 2022-23 regular season with a road game against Meridian on Saturday, February 25. The Wolves beat the Eagles, 70-58, to increase their season-long winning streak to 11 games.

The Wolves outscored the Eagles in the first half, 35-28, to hold a lead by that margin at the end of play. The Wolves then came out in the second half and kept the Eagles at-bay while holding on to their lead. Despite being outscored by the Eagles in the second half, 33-32, the Wolves secured the 70-58 win.

Sophomore guard Cowandric Samuel (Jackson) had a big game for the Wolves as he led all scorers with 21 points along with four rebounds, a game-leading seven assists, and two steals. Freshman forward Dylan Canoville (Plantation, FL) continued his monster season for the Wolves as he had his fifth straight and 12th overall double-double performance of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore forward Kaeden Laws (Southaven) had 12 points with three rebounds and five assists.

Sophomore guard Jemario Hersey (Brookhaven) had nine points with six rebounds, one assist, and two steals while sophomore forward AJ Warnsley (Byram) had seven points and made his impact felt on the boards with a game-leading 16 rebounds. Freshman guard Anterrian Hawkins (Hollandale) had five points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.

Co-Lin finishes the regular season 18-5 overall, 12-2 in conference play, and as the MACCC Conference and State Champions. The Wolves have also earned the No. 1 overall seed in the Region 23 Men's Basketball Tournament that comes with a bye for the first round. The Wolves will return to action on Wednesday, March 1, against the winner of the Region 23 Tournament First Round between Northeast Mississippi and Jones. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., at Mullen Gym.
