Brown Receives SWAC Player of the Week Honors

The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Alcorn State's Destiny Brown and Texas Southern's Micah Gray for SWAC Women's Basketball Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during this past week of conference play.

 

Player of the Week

Brown posted back-to-back impressive outings this past week of competition as the Lady Braves went 1-1 for the week with a key league win over Texas Southern on Monday night. She averaged a league leading 21.0 points per game to go along with 10.0 rebounds per game.

 

Impact Player of the Week

Gray made a significant impact this past week for the Texas Southern Lady Tigers as she averaged 19.0 points per game during contests against Jackson State and Alcorn State respectively. She also averaged 3.0 assists per game while shooting 75 percent from the free-throw line.   

 

About the SWAC

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is considered one of the premier HBCU conferences in the country and currently ranks among the elite in the nation in terms of HBCU alumni playing with professional sports teams.

 

Current championship competition offered by the league includes competition for men in Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, and Tennis.

 

Women's competition is offered in the sports of Basketball, Bowling, Cross Country, Golf, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, and Volleyball.
