Wolves Win Ninth Straight in Home Regular Season Finale

The Co-Lin Men's Basketball team celebrated their five sophomores as they played host to Gulf Coast on Tuesday, February 21. The Wolves beat the Bulldogs, 87-80, extending their season-long winning streak to nine games.

The Wolves opened the game with a 14-8 scoring run to hold the lead by that margin with 14:55 left in the first half. The Wolves then used a 10-6 scoring run to increase their lead to 24-14 with 10:17 left on the clock in the first half. The Wolves and Bulldogs then matched scoring outputs over the next few minutes with 11 points each to give the Wolves a 35-25 lead with 5:57 remaining. The Wolves closed out the first half with an 11-8 scoring run to hold a 46-33 lead as the teams entered the locker rooms at halftime.

The Wolves came out in the second half and continued to hold off the Bulldogs despite being outscored 11-8 over the opening minutes as the Wolves lead stood at 54-44 with 15:08 remaining in the half. The Wolves responded with a 9-6 scoring run to push their lead to 63-50 with 9:39 left in the game. The Wolves continued to hold the Bulldogs at bay as they went on a 14-13 scoring run pushing the lead to 77-63 with 5:06 remaining in the second half. The Bulldogs closed out the game with 17-10 scoring run but were never able to get within seven points of the Wolves as they secured the 87-80 victory.

The Wolves got another monster game out of freshman forward Dylan Canoville (Plantation, FL), who posted a double-double performance, by leading all players in points and rebounds with 22 and 19 respectively. For Canoville, this was his 11th double-double of the season and third-straight. Sophomore forward AJ Warnsley (Byram) narrowly missed a double-double as he had 20 points with seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. Sophomore guard Cowandric Samuel (Jackson) had 14 points with three rebounds and six assists.

Sophomore guard Jemario Hersey (Brookhaven) and sophomore forward Kaeden Laws (Southaven) had 11 points each. Sophomore guard Andrew Anderson (Hattiesburg) had four points while freshman forward Mike Smith (New Albany) had three points, and freshman guard Anterrian Hawkins (Hollandale) had two points to round out the scoring for the Wolves.
