Nicholls State falls to Southern Miss in NCAA Division I softball, Paden pitches

Former North Pike Senior High School standout Averi Paden took the field with Nicholls State Colonels as they were defeated 7-3 by the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in NCAA Division I softball on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m.

The game was held at Swanner Field at Geo Surfaces Park and marked the Colonels’ first face-off against Southern Miss this season.

In her appearance, Paden pitched 1.1 innings, giving up four earned runs, walking two and striking out one.

The Colonels are scheduled to play South Alabama Jaguars at Jaguar Field next on Tuesday, March 3, at 5 p.m.
